I’m going to bed in about a half hour, but for now I’m working on this weblog entry and a little ol’ persuasive essay. An essay? 0_o But I’m done with school, so I should be done with essays, shouldn’t I? Ha! Leaning how to properly write a persuasive essay has proven to be one of the skills I got from school that is actually wholly applicable to life in general. I write essays all the time. A lot of the time they’re just for myself to help me get a better idea of what I’m doing with a project or get a better handle on what I’m thinking about something. Other times, though, they are unbelievably handy and have resulted in things like my being able to use my life savings to put $8,500 into a lighting system.
So what essay am I writing tonight? I’m working on an essay meant to convince my parents of the fact that *need* to get out of Columbia, MO, and that taking advantage of this offer and going to Chicago is extremely important to me, as well as an excellent career move. I can make some damned good arguments orally straight from the hip, but even my best spontaneous orations fall FAR short of the product of a few days spent building, editing, and refining a written argument for or against something. I’ll work on this in the evenings this week and probably present it on Friday or Saturday.
I’ve got to get to Chicago, dammit. I intend to see to it that my parents understand why and are compelled to help me along.
Oh yeah, and I want this.
