Were you planning on telling me?

So here’s something that sucks. It now seems like it’s almost a universally-accepted business procedure to specifically *not* notify job applicants when they have been turned down for a job. Since I got home over a month ago, I have submitted job applications for probably around 40 positions. Of those, about 30 were for positions that were currently being hired for, and the others were just for whatever establishment to keep on file. Out of all of that, I’ve gotten a handful of interviews. I have not yet been hired by anyone. Given this, somewhere around 30 businesses have been remiss in the universal promise of “We’ll get back to you.” So what the fuck? Is it so hard to pick up the fucking phone and call an applicant and spend ten seconds to say, “I’m sorry, but we’ve hired someone else. Thank you for applying.” Or would it be so ridiculously complicated to send a note in the mail with a similar sentiment? I think not.

You may say that it might be too much trouble for the company or store or whatever to get back to you, and that if you don’t hear from them in a certain period of time, then you should just assume you didn’t get the job. Bullshit. The bigger the company, the worse they are at this. The bigger the company, the more people they have on hand. The more people they have on hand, the less of a fucking excuse they have. If I’ve gone to all of the trouble of trying to sell myself as a good worker to an organization, spent a few hours working on an application, and maybe even dressing up and driving in for an interview, doesn’t it just seem like if, in the end, it is decided that I am not needed, and ESPECIALLY given that I will have likely been promised word on my hiring (positive *or* negative), I should be notified of this? I invest that much time and effort so some lazy fucking manager can spend 5 minutes looking over a few sheets of paper and give me a big silent “fuck you?”

No. I’m sick and fucking tired of having to track people down so they can tell me to piss off.

I hate people.
