So I finished Fight Club late last night. And now that I’ve had a good 8 hours to sleep on it, I’m ready to decide what I think of it. Overall, not a bad book. However, it was certainly not the literary work of genius I’ve heard so many people make it out to be. Yes it was good, but not that good. There was nothing groundbreaking about it. There was nothing particularly unique about it. It was reasonbly well done, but my no means perfect.
So to all of you who proclaim that Fight Club is the best book ever, or something like that, get over it.Posted by Munsey at December 29, 2003 11:17 AM
What does live up to hype? Granted, it is no “Grapes of Wrath” or “A Clockwork Orange” but don’t give up on Mr. Palahniuk. I’d still recommend “Choke” or “Lullaby” because even if you don’t like them, they are such quick reads, you’ve only spent a few hours. Besides, even if the book is overrated, the movie kicks ass, especially the soundtrack.
