Life in the past lane

Oi. One day of job-hunting done and no bites. Not surprising, but at least I got some job applications in. I’ll go fill out some more and do more calling around starting tomorrow morning.

Today in the mail I got my copy of Monday on DVD. The cover of said DVD is pictured above. I’m watching it again right now and it is truly fantastic. Wonderfully written, excellently executed. The humor, style, direction, and cinemaphotography are all right the fuck on. This is the second time I’ve seen it and it’s substantially better this time than it was the first time, and that’s saying a lot. This is a dark, dark comedy that is very unique. I’m now very interested in seing other things by SABU (the director). Meanwhile, Allen is also suggesting some films that I need to see. This whole film appreciation thing could get kind of expensive…

And I’m definitely buying a region-free DVD player.

About an hour ago now I got a notification email from CD Baby telling me that “The Chilling Effect,” the Pelican City album I’ve been looking for FOREVER, has finally had a second pressing. This is like Christmas in and of itself. I don’t know how long I’ve been looking for this album, but it’s finally back again and I WILL FINALLY HAVE A COPY! [insert maniacal laughter here] *ahem* I have most of the MP3s off of this disc and it’s so awesome I need to have them all and I need to have the physical CD. It’s an amazing piece of work. I highly recommend that you pick up a copy for yourself if you’re an appreciator of (somewhat) instrumental trip hop/electronica.

And now it’s been about 2 hours since I finished that last paragraph. Time to post this thing and move on for the night.
