Had my wisdom teeth out this morning, and as yet everything seems to have gone extremely well. I mean, as well as things can go when you’ve just had four teeth forcibly cut out of your upper and lower jawbones. While tomorrow will be the tell-all day, as it were, so far pain is minimal and swelling is virtually nonexistant. And now that I can feel my lips, tongue, mouth, face, etc again, I can talk normally too. My glass of milk and soup at supper were an exercise in precision glass-tilting and spoon-wrangling, respectively.
When we got there, we ended up waiting for about an hour and fifteen minutes before I got called back. They apologized for the delay, though, so that was cool. They started an IV, had me get comfortable in the chair, then gave me one injection into the IV that made me feel all happy and stuff, then a second injection and the next thing I remember (even vaguely) is having my mother pull over on the side of the road on the way home so I could spit out a bunch of blood. And yes, it was just as pretty as it sounds. After that I spent most of the day sleeping, aside from a couple hour swhen I got up to get someting to drink and rest before going back to sleep. And now, of course. Definitely feeling better now, though I’ll still probably go to bed early and sleep late.
And having a solid excuse to sleep as much as is humanly possible may, in the end, prove to be the single greatest benefit of having my wisdom teeth out.
So what’s new on your end of the line? I know this isn’t an email so you can’t just reply and say what’s up (though you can always leave a comment), but I wanted to pretend that a weblog isn’t as one-sided of a thing as it is.
Anybody else trying to think up some good resolutions for New Year’s? Right now I’m probably just going to resolve to get a much better handle on Japanese and actually get out of the US and into Japan by the time 2005 rolls around. Seems reasonable if you ask me.
OK, I really don’t have anything to say tonight. I hope all is well with anbody reading this….and with people who aren’t, too. Happy holidays, all.
