So here’s another good argument in favor of going to Japan. Imagine you’re 80 or 90 years old and in your final days. You’re looking back on all the years of your life, thinking about the thigns you’ve done, thinking about things you wish you had done, etc. Now tell me, which is more likely – looking back on your life wishing you hadn’t traveled extensively, or wishing that you had? Golly Batman, something tells me it’s the second. I have, on repeated occasions heard in the musings of the elderly a wish that they had traveled, seen the world, etc back when they were young and had the chance. Conversely, I have never heard anyone of that demographic wishing that they hadn’t traveled. Anyone I’ve ever come into contact with who did travel and later reflected back on it has had nothing but good things to say about the experience, added perspective, and fun of it all.
Given my general fear of wasting my life doing things that I’ll later regret, you’d think this would be a pretty convincing argument in favor of making a hop across the Pacific. And it is.
